As part of the “demobilization” process… each unit is required to undergo a series of briefings. Some of the briefings actually occur while still overseas (in Iraq in our case) and then shortly upon return to the United States (we received those in Camp Shelby, Mississippi).
The process continues over a series of months, however, with more briefings that were held soon after our Freedom Salute. In addition to receiving information about items such as Veterans’ benefits… we also had an opportunity to become familiar with some of the Veterans organizations in the Omaha-Council Bluffs area. Several of these groups… such as the American Legion… manned booths and were on-hand to answer any questions sent their way.
